02San Pedro Garza García: design, spa and views

• Habita MTY. A design hotel in a residential part of San Pedro, with black-and-white interiors, views of the Sierra Madre, a lobby wall of 3,500 handmade mirrors and a top-floor bar with two infinity pools and 360° views.
• JW Marriott Monterrey. A luxury hotel in the centre of San Pedro, with the restaurant Orfebre, a lobby bar with signature cocktails and a spa with sauna, steam room and five private treatment rooms.
• The Westin Monterrey Valle. In Punto Valle, with rooms overlooking the city or the mountains, the open-air restaurant Azotea Deck 11 on the 11th floor, a spa and an outdoor pool.

Pool bars work best at sunset; in Monterrey’s summer, ask about opening hours and the coolest table.

03The financial district: Live Aqua

• Live Aqua Urban Resort Monterrey. In Loma Larga, in the financial district, with modern design, large windows with panoramic views, the contemporary Mexican restaurant Azur, the sunset bar Nyte and spa massages.

It is a good option if the plan includes dinner with a view and a quiet night without having to move around much.

0430 minutes away: Hotel Rincón de Santiago

If you want to disconnect from the city, Rincón de Santiago is in Santiago, Nuevo León, about 30 minutes from downtown Monterrey, within the Cerro de la Silla natural area and facing the La Boca reservoir.

• The hotel. 80 suites and 15 villas with views of the gardens or the reservoir; some villas have a private pool and several suites have a terrace.
• For two. Bonfires, stargazing nights, massages, yoga and hikes towards Cola de Caballo National Park.
• To eat. The restaurant Los Agapantos and the Bocabar.

05How to book with care

• Book ahead on weekends and special dates.
• Take it easy getting around. Driving is common in Monterrey; consider a ride-hailing app if you are going to have a drink.
• Ask about policies on visitors, ID and opening hours of common areas.
• Her freedom. Being able to arrive and leave whenever she wishes is part of a good night.
• Discretion. Do not post photos of the place or of her without her permission.
