Valentine’s Day 2027 in Los Cabos: a weekend for two, unhurried

Love and Friendship Day (Día del Amor y la Amistad, Mexico’s Valentine’s Day) in 2027 falls on a Sunday, February 14, and in Los Cabos that means high season, hotels filling up and hard-to-get restaurant tables. This guide is for couples, or for two people who already know each other and decide together, who want to travel for a weekend; also for anyone who lives here and just wants to plan a good dinner. It is not a first-date plan. It brings together facts from named, dated sources, the hotels and places we have already reviewed, a three-night plan and what is worth sorting out beforehand: bookings, transport, little gestures and safety. Confirm everything close to the date.

In short

  • Valentine’s Day 2027 is Sunday, February 14; the natural weekend runs from Friday 12 to Monday 15. Mexico Travel & Leisure (April 27, 2026) notes that demand in Los Cabos rises from February 13 to 17.
  • February is high season and humpback whale season: book the hotel and dinner first, and leave the morning for activities on the water.
  • Beware of fake bookings that ask for a deposit by transfer and of supposed flower deliveries that ask for payment: always confirm with the hotel or vendor through their official channels.
  • The U.S. State Department keeps Baja California Sur at Level 2 (advisory of September 6, 2024; consulted October 27, 2026): confirm the current advisory.

01When to book: Sunday the 14th and the weekend around it

In 2027 February 14 falls on a Sunday, so the natural weekend runs from Friday 12 to Monday 15. Mexico Travel & Leisure (April 27, 2026) describes February in Los Cabos as high season, with demand for romantic trips and hotel availability tightest from the 13th to the 17th, and points to the U.S. Presidents’ Day long weekend as another peak for travelers (in 2027, by the calendar, Monday 15). The same source places high season from December 15 to April 15.

  • Book the hard things first. The hotel and the dinner that matters most to you. Our Los Cabos services guide recalls that Sunset Monalisa is the trickiest reservation of those mentioned in the Tourism Board’s notes.
  • If you can choose your dates, the source suggests early or late February to avoid the peak. If Sunday is not possible, celebrating on Saturday 13 or Monday 15 counts too.
  • Ask for cancellation and special-date conditions in writing: each hotel sets its own and they change from year to year.

On the weather, Mexico Travel & Leisure (April 27, 2026) gives February highs of about 25 to 27 °C (77 to 81 °F), lows of 14 to 17 °C (57 to 63 °F), infrequent rain, cool evenings and a sea of about 22 to 24 °C (72 to 75 °F). It adds that the wind tends to pick up in the afternoon, so it is best to leave water activities for the morning. Check the forecast a few days before you leave.

February is also humpback whale season: officially, operators can go out from December 15 to April 15 and the peak runs from January to March, although sightings are not guaranteed (Mexico News Daily, November 14, 2023, updated February 16, 2024). There is more detail in the guide to whales in Los Cabos.

Book the hard things first: the hotel and the dinner that matters most to you.

02Where to stay: San José, the Corridor or adults-only

Each area changes the rhythm of the weekend. This is a summary of our guide to discreet hotels in Los Cabos, where there is more detail and the sources.

  • San José del Cabo. A quieter, small-town option, with small hotels such as Casa Natalia (18 suites) and Hotel El Ganzo.
  • The Corridor. Beach hotels where the plan revolves around the hotel itself: One&Only Palmilla, Esperanza, Las Ventanas al Paraíso, Chileno Bay, Montage and Zadún. In return, almost everything else requires a taxi or transfer.
  • Adults-only. Marquis Los Cabos (234 rooms) and Breathless Cabo San Lucas (169) accept only guests over 18, and the Viceroy Los Cabos has an adults-only rooftop pool.

Ask about the exact age and visitor rules before booking, because they differ between hotels. And remember the principle of this guide: it is a trip that two people who already know each other choose together, each with their own booking or their own way of leaving whenever they want.

03A three-night plan, Friday to Monday

This is one way to organize the weekend without filling it with schedules. Adjust it to the weather and the reservations you manage to get.

  • Friday 12: an unhurried arrival. At the airport, The Cabo Sun (March 16, 2026) says Uber cannot pick up at the terminal and the taxis have no meters, so it is best to use the official taxi booth or a pre-booked transfer. A quiet dinner near the hotel and an early night.
  • Saturday 13: sea in the morning, rest in the afternoon. A whale-watching outing in the morning; according to Mexico News Daily, small, fast boats tend to get closer and departures leave mostly from the Cabo San Lucas marina. In the afternoon, the pool or a treatment at the hotel spa (One&Only Spa Palmilla, for example; confirm hours and whether it admits people who are not staying there). Dinner in San José del Cabo.
  • Sunday 14: Love and Friendship Day. A free morning, a light lunch, sunset on the water or on a terrace, and dinner at the place you booked furthest ahead. The options are below.
  • Monday 15: a long breakfast and departure. Have airport transport sorted from Saturday and do not stack up schedules: it is the busiest day for return travel.

If you only have two nights, keep Saturday morning on the water and Sunday’s dinner, and leave the rest unscheduled.

04Dinner, sunset and little gestures: what to book and what to give

The Los Cabos Tourism Board notes (February 2023 and June 2025) that we already used in the services guide mention these ideas. They are examples, not a neutral or paid selection, and restaurants change: confirm they are still open and check their hours.

  • Dinner with a view. Sunset Monalisa, a clifftop restaurant and the hardest reservation; El Farallón, at the Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos Pedregal; Mi Cocina and Don Sánchez, in San José del Cabo.
  • On the beach. Beach picnics at Nobu Los Cabos and a chef’s menu on the beach at Chileno Bay Resort; also cabanas at One&Only Palmilla, Esperanza and Playa Grande. Ask what each option includes and who can book it.
  • Sunset on the water. Sunset sailing trips with All Ways Cabo Boats, or charters with Cabo Adventures and Cabo Sails. Confirm the length, what happens if it is windy and the cancellation policy.

As for little gestures, we could not find a reliable, current list of florists that deliver to hotels in Los Cabos, so we name none. The safest route is to ask the hotel concierge to arrange flowers or a toast at the table or on the terrace, confirm the name, room or table and time in writing, and pay only through the hotel’s own channels. In Mexico it is common to give gifts on Love and Friendship Day, and between friends too, so a simple, thoughtful gesture with a note is usually worth more than a big one. If you do not know the person well yet, do not send anything to their hotel or home: hand it over in person at the place of the date. More ideas in the gift guide.

05Booking and flower scams, and basic safety

High-demand dates attract people who want to take advantage. These signs come up again and again, and you do not need statistics to take them seriously:

  • Fake bookings. A page or message offering a hotel, villa or dinner at a very good discount and asking for a deposit by transfer, in cash or with gift cards. Book through the hotel’s official site or by calling the number listed there.
  • Fake flower deliveries. Messages saying an arrangement is waiting and asking for a payment or a “shipping fee” to release it, or florist ads that disappear after payment. If you were not expecting a delivery, do not pay.
  • Pressure to decide now. “Only one table left” or “pay today so you do not lose it” is a warning sign, not an offer.

There is more in the guide to deposits and fake bookings. In everyday terms, the notes we already used recommend being careful with ATMs on the street, watching your drink and avoiding poorly lit areas of El Médano at night; to get back, use an official taxi or an app and do not walk alone. Tell someone you trust where you will be and when you will return.

The U.S. State Department keeps Baja California Sur at Level 2, “exercise increased caution” (advisory of September 6, 2024; consulted October 27, 2026). Confirm the current advisory at travel.state.gov before you travel. If anything about the plan or the person makes you doubt, go over the warning signs.

06If you are still getting to know each other: a no-pressure alternative

If you have only been on a few dates, there is no need to turn February 14 into a trip or a big-production dinner. A daytime lunch in a public place, a coffee facing the sea or a short walk lets you find out whether there is a connection, without commitments or hotels involved. A getaway of several days is decided later, when both people want it and talk it over calmly. To prepare for that first date, see the first date guide.

If you live alone and would like to meet someone discreetly, you do not have to wait for a special date. Premium Dating Mexico is a private introduction service mediated by the administrator: it is free for women, nobody pays for a meeting, identities are verified and photos are protected. Find out more on the home page.

Venues, hours, programs and notices change: confirm everything with each hotel, restaurant or organizer and with official sources before you go. We have no relationship with any of the places mentioned, and the listings are not paid.
