02Grills and chef-driven cooking

These options appear in the lists cited. The details are from those sources.

• 1828 Brasa y Carbón. At Nieto 717A, Barrio de San Marcos, according to Tus Buenas Noticias. Contemporary cooking over the coals, with a full bar and an air-conditioned private room; the outlet mentions live music on special occasions.
• Mochomos. On Av. Independencia (no number in the Tus Buenas Noticias piece). Chef-driven cooking from a Sonoran chain, with cuts and seafood; the piece mentions terraces and private rooms. Líder Empresarial includes it and points to OpenTable for reservations.
• Tikal. It appears in the Líder Empresarial piece as a grill house with charcoal-grilled meat and seafood and cocktails; reservations through OpenTable. The piece gives no address.
• El Almacén del Bife. Also in that piece: Argentine-inspired, with cuts and an extensive wine list, according to the piece. It gives no address.

Grills tend to mean long meals: for a first date, arrive early and propose a one-to-two-hour dinner, with no commitment to dessert or lingering afterwards.

03Something lighter: sushi and casual cooking

If you prefer a short, casual plan, these appear in the Tus Buenas Noticias list.

• Biwa. At Av. Independencia 1602, local 1, near Adria Cava Urbana. A sushi bar with a 10-to-12-course omakase, nigiri, sashimi and ramen, in a casual-elegant setting with a counter and direct contact with the chef, according to the piece.
• MONOSANTO. At Blvd. José María Chávez 1335. Modern American cooking, with burgers, ribs and snacks. The piece gives hours Monday to Saturday, 12:00 to 24:00, and Sunday, 12:00 to 22:00; confirm them.

A sushi counter lets you talk side by side, without the pressure of facing each other all dinner, and it is easy to end when you both want to.

04Drinks and cocktails

The sources we consulted are thinner on bars than on restaurants, so we are careful.

• Carajillo San Marcos. At Arturo J. Pani 118, according to Tus Buenas Noticias: international cooking with brunch, cocktails and dishes to share, open every day from 13:00 to 2:00 according to the piece. Because the piece describes a family atmosphere, ask what it is like at night before suggesting it.
• Bars at the restaurants above. 1828 Brasa y Carbón has a full bar, and Mochomos and Tikal mention cocktails, according to their pieces.

We found no reliable, recent list of cocktail bars with an address and hours, so we do not make one up. If you want one, ask at your hotel or someone from the city, and check that it is a quiet, well-known place.
