Date-Planning Services in Guadalajara: what exists and how to book it

Not every service suits every moment. Here is an overview; each is explained below.

• Private chef dinner. Platforms such as Take a Chef connect you with chefs who prepare dinner at your home.
• A tequila afternoon. Private tours and excursions from Guadalajara to the town of Tequila, or the José Cuervo Express train.
• City plans. Tlaquepaque, rooftop dinners and food experiences that you book yourself.
• Support services. Hotel concierge, photography and surprise setups: we found no recent sources on specific providers in Guadalajara, so we give criteria rather than names.

A useful rule: the more intimate or private the service, the longer you should have known the other person before proposing it.

02Private chef dinner at home

According to Take a Chef’s page for romantic dinners in Zapopan, the service works as a marketplace of chefs: the platform says there are more than 20 chefs in Zapopan, the chef proposes the menu, the ingredients are bought, and the chef cooks, serves and cleans up afterwards.

• How it is booked. According to the same page: you send a request with the cuisine, preferences and intolerances; you receive menu proposals; you chat with the chef to adjust it; you pay to reserve; and you enjoy the dinner. The page does not say how far ahead to book or give cancellation policies, so ask.
• Intolerances and preferences. It is important to flag allergies or restrictions for both of you. Ask how ingredients are handled and what happens if something changes on the day.
• When it makes sense. A dinner like this assumes both of you feel comfortable in a private home. For a first date, a public place is more prudent.

The page does not state whether the chefs are independent contractors; confirm that point and the legal and privacy terms before you pay.

03A tequila afternoon

The town of Tequila, Jalisco, is a classic plan from Guadalajara. There are several ways to get there and to organise it.

• By car or Uber. According to Mexico Travel and Leisure (updated 14 July 2026), the drive takes about 50 minutes depending on traffic, and Uber works between Guadalajara and Tequila.
• By bus. The same source gives about 2.5 hours, with daily departures from 7:00 to 14:30 from the Central Vieja, and says the fare is paid in cash. Confirm current times.
• Private tour. byFood offers a private tour from Guadalajara Cathedral to Tequila, about 4 hours, for 1 to 5 guests, with air-conditioned transport, tastings and an English and Spanish guide; tastings are for guests over 18, and cancellation is free with 24 hours’ notice, according to the operator’s page.
• José Cuervo Express train. Mexico Travel and Leisure says it includes the bus ride from Guadalajara and back, works as a one-day visit and should be booked ahead for weekends.

The source advises not drinking heavily if anyone is driving and avoiding lodging on the main avenue, where bars and clubs can play loud music late. Decide who drives before the first glass.

04City plans you book yourself

Not every plan needs a provider. Guadalajara has options that need only a reservation.

• Tlaquepaque. A stroll through its streets and shops and El Parián, a cluster of restaurants around a bandstand with mariachi, according to Culture Trip (no date visible).

If you are torn between two options, ask which one lets the date end naturally if there is no chemistry.

05How to book with good judgment

Before paying for any service, these questions save trouble.

• Written confirmation. Date, time, place, number of people and what the service includes.
• Cancellation and changes. What happens if it rains, if someone falls ill or if the plan changes.
• Data and privacy. What information you give and what the provider receives about you; avoid sharing more than necessary.
• Payment. Prefer platforms or methods that leave a record; be wary of cash-only payments in advance to people you do not know.
• Surprise setups and photography. Ask whether the venue allows the setup, how long it takes to install and what happens if the person prefers not to take part; a surprise that feels forced does not work.

A well-chosen service makes the day run without surprises; one chosen only to impress tends to have the opposite effect.
