Private clubs and events in Mexico City: where meeting people comes naturally
Some of the best conversations start around something else: an artwork, a glass of wine, a hole of golf. This guide brings together Mexico City private clubs and events open to the public where meeting people comes naturally, and explains how access works at each. Clubs are for members: you don’t get in without an invitation or an application, and the rules change.
In short
- Private clubs in Mexico City work by membership or invitation; access, dress code and visitor rules depend on each club.
- Soho House, Club 51, the Club de Industriales and the Club de Golf México are four examples of very different kinds of club.
- Public events such as Zona Maco, Nación de Vinos and the opera seasons are the easiest way to start.
- Meeting people in these places works best when there is a shared interest and no rush.
01How private clubs work
A private club is a space with access restricted to its members and their guests. That is both its advantage and its limit.
- Membership. Many require an application and the approval of a committee. Some require a current member to introduce you.
- A member’s guest. The quickest route is usually a friend who is a member inviting you; each club has its own guest rules.
- Dress and conduct codes. Each club has its own rules; confirm them before you go.
- Costs. They change and clubs publish them differently; ask each club rather than relying on old figures.
None of these options guarantees you will meet someone. They are settings where starting a conversation is natural.
03Golf and sports clubs
Golf is a setting where you spend hours together and talk without hurry.
- Club de Golf México. In Tlalpan, at Avenida San Buenaventura 374, founded in 1951. The city’s official tourism site describes it as an exclusive club in a private residential area. It hosted the 1967 World Cup of Golf and PGA Tour Latinoamérica events.
Access is for members and their guests. If you want to play, ask a member or a club professional about the conditions for visitors.
04Events open to the public
Events are the easiest way to begin: you buy a ticket and walk in. These are three 2026 examples; check the dates of the next edition.
- Zona Maco. The largest art fair in Latin America, according to Chilango. In 2026 it ran from 4 to 8 February at Centro Banamex, with four simultaneous fairs: contemporary art, design, the Salón del Anticuario and photography. It is part of the city’s Art Week.
- Banorte Nación de Vinos. A Mexican wine festival that reached its seventh edition in 2026, on 28 and 29 January at Campo Marte in Polanco, with more than 80 wineries from the country’s 17 wine regions, according to Chilango.
- Opera and concerts. The Compañía Nacional de Ópera presented its 2026 programme with titles from March to December, such as Tosca in October and a double bill in December. Its chorus and orchestra belong to the Teatro de Bellas Artes.
At an event the topic of conversation is already there: the work you just saw, the wine you just tasted, the scene from the opera. That makes it easier to take the first step.
05How to meet someone in these places
What works in a bar works here, with one advantage: you already have something in common.
- Start from an interest. A question about what you have just seen or tasted opens the conversation without forcing it.
- No rush. In a club or at a fair there is no deadline for getting to know each other; running into each other again is part of the plan.
- Respect other people’s privacy. Don’t photograph other people without their permission.
- Accept the other person’s pace. If she prefers to stay with her group, that is that.

06If you would rather have someone introduce you
Not everyone has time to frequent clubs or events, or a member friend to invite them.
Premium Dating Mexico is a private introduction service mediated by the administrator: it is free for women, nobody pays for a meeting, identities are verified and photos are protected. See how it works on the Mexico City page.
Venues, hours, access rules and dress codes change, so confirm everything with each venue before you go. We have no relationship with any of the places mentioned, and the listings are not paid.
